Areas of Practice

refractive error (glasses)

Many children need glasses to excel in school, sports, and play. Children often do not complain of blurry vision, because they do not understand what is to see clearly.  Glasses are sometimes needed to ensure proper visual development.  Our expert staff will make recommendations about glasses and provide a prescription.

NLDO (Blocked tear duct)

Frequent tearing can indicate a blocked tear duct.  The team at Bright Eye Consultants will evaluate your child's tearing and can improve this with a simple procedure.

Adult Strabismus & Double Vision

Adult strabismus is a complex condition and can be very bothersome.  We specialize in medical and surgical treatment of adult double vision.  It is important to diagnosis adult strabismus, as it may indicate brain injury, nerve palsy, multiple sclerosis, or other serious problem.

screening exams

Screening for eye problems associated with diabetes, plaquenil toxicity, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, neurofibromatosis, and other systemic disease is important.  These conditions can cause vision damage that can go unnoticed because it does not hurt.

Childhood Strabismus (Crossed Eyes / misaligned eyes)

Any child with misaligned eyes needs to be evaluated soon.  If not treated, childhood strabismus can lead to permanent visual problems.  We will take the time to explain your child's strabismus and make a custom plan based upon your child's needs.  We can help with treatments from glasses to patching to exercise or even surgery, if needed.

Amblyopia (lazy eye)

Amblyopia is when vision fails to properly develop in infancy and childhood.  This is often first noticed during a routine vision screening.  Call us if your child has failed a vision test or there are other concerns about his/her visual development.

Failed Vision Screening

School and pediatrician vision screening is a good start.  However, any child who struggles with or fails a screening exam needs the specialized care we provide.

Special Needs Exams

At Bright Eye Consultants, we understand that a doctor's office can be a scary place.  Our staff works hard to make your child's visit enjoyable and will accommodate his or her needs in every way they can.

Pediatric Ptosis (droopy eye lid)

Poor eyelid position can interfere with 3D vision and visual development.  Ptosis can sometimes be the symptom of another disease.  The specialists at Bright Eye Consultants will carefully evaluate and treat your child's ptosis.

headache

Children get headaches too.  We will carefully check for eye problems that can cause headaches or signs that your child's headaches may indicate something more serious.

Atropine high Myopia therapy

We now have an easy at home eye drop treatment to slow the worsening of nearsightedness (myopia) over time.  This is especially useful in children whose parents are very nearsighted.
