Glasses From Online Sellers
Quality glasses can be purchased online - there are a few things you should know
Glasses can often cost $30 or less.
Your prescription must not be expired. Most glasses prescriptions are good for 1 year. If you need an new copy of your non-expired prescription, please contact our office.
You need to know your pupillary distance (PD) in millimeters (mm). This is the distance between the eyes. It can be measured and recorded in two ways:
“Binocular” Pupillary Distance: the total distance between the center of the two eyes: reported as a single number
“Monocular” Pupillary Distance: the distance between the center of each eye and the midline of the nose: reported as a number for each eye
Your doctor can measure your pupillary distance at that time of your exam - just ask
There are online tools to measure pupillary distance: CLICK TO TRY THE ZENNI OPTICAL PD TOOL
Online glasses sellers usually do not accept insurance. Most insurances will not reimburse you for the price of glasses purchased online, but each insurance is different. You may contact your insurance if you are not sure.
